SUMMARY:From ETH Physics Student to HPC System Engineer
DESCRIPTION:Minisymposium\n\nElsa Germann (Paul Scherrer Institute)\n\nHow
does one go from a master degree in physics to a specialist in high-perfo
rmance computing? Where can one stay close to science and have an impact b
y helping scientists with their daily programming tasks? In this talk, I w
ant to share one possible option and my rewarding journey in HPC as a DevO
ps/System Engineer. I started as an ETH student, continued with a Build &
DevOps internship at MeteoSwiss, then as a Scientific Software Developer a
t C2SM and finally became a System Engineer at the Paul Scherrer Institute
. I will include some of my achievements along the way and elaborate on th
e various challenges I faced and overcame as a Swiss woman.\n\nDomain: Com
